Ptarmigan Dynamics
Built for portable, long-endurance monitoring in the Arctic.
Ptarmigan Dynamics designs small uncrewed aircraft, and the battery systems inside them, for surveillance and monitoring in northern and cold-weather environments, where most small drones lose a large share of their flight time before they leave the case.
Endurance in the cold.
Our battery packs are designed and built in-house for sub-zero operation. They deliver close to their rated capacity at −20 °C instead of the steep losses typical of off-the-shelf packs.
Portable.
One person, one case, airborne in under ten minutes. Folding arms and propellers, vertical take-off from a two-square-metre patch of snow, stows in a 70-litre pack.
Trusted supply chain.
Designed and assembled in Canada. Radios, flight computer, ground station and software sourced from Canada and allied nations. Battery packs built here.
Willow-1 is in development. Our carbon-fibre demonstrator is flying now and completed a 35-minute endurance flight in September 2026. See Willow-1
